Roddick Supports Eala’s Focus on Singles
Andy Roddick has expressed his support for Alexandra Eala, who recently declined Venus Williams’ offer to play doubles at the Washington Open. After appearing in their first tournament together at Bad Homburg earlier this year, Eala was replaced by Diana Shnaider just before the Washington event began.
Eala provided insight into why she decided against the opportunity. 'I have so much respect for Venus and couldn’t miss out on learning from her,' said Eala. However, she admits that balancing both singles and doubles right now is too demanding.
Roddick explains: ‘If I was a young player, I would be submitting my resume to play with Venus as long as she’s out there because it'd be so cool. But Eala focuses on making runs in the tournaments where her body can handle it more effectively.’Eala’s Health Considerations
Speaking further about her decision, Eala stated she needed to prioritize her singles performance over doubles.
