Athletes From Bankrupt Track League Are Finally Paid - Johnson
Four-time Olympic champion Michael Johnson has made a public statement for the first time since Grand Slam Track went bankrupt, confirming that outstanding payments to athletes and runners have been resolved. Johnson, who was deeply affected by the financial collapse of the inaugural competition in December 2025, has clarified the situation following accusations of self-prioritizing.
In January, it was reported that GST had debts of over $30m (£22.5m), causing severe cash flow issues. In March, a legal filing accused Johnson of secretly paying himself $500,000 (£375,000) just before the season ended, an allegation he firmly denies.
