Allan McNish’s vision: shaping future champions
A launched in January this year, Audi's Driver Development Programme is much more than a path to F1 success. Led by Allan McNish – now Racing Director – the programme aims to develop young drivers not just as racers but also as positive leaders and resilient individuals. Its goals extend beyond Formula 1, focusing on holistic growth.
The DDP includes two current prospects: Formula 3’s Freddie Slater and F1 ACADEMY’s Emma Felbermayr. Former F1 ACADEMY racer Carrie Schreiner serves as a mentor, providing guidance based on her own experiences in the series.
Key components of the programme
The DDP offers more than just driver development; it includes support for physical fitness, media training, and even marketing strategies. This multifaceted approach is designed to make sure drivers are prepared for whatever comes next, whether that's in motorsport or their personal lives.
“It’s about creating a balanced environment where they can grow both on and off the track,” explains Slater.
