Young Star Azzi Fudd Wins WNBA 3-point Shooting Contest
Rookie Azzi Fudd of the Dallas Wings became the first-ever rookie to win the WNBA All-Star 3-point shooting contest with a stunning 30-point performance in Friday's final round. Filled with confidence after her battle against NBA star Stephen Curry at his basketball camp, she now dares him for a rematch.
Fudd was just 15 years old when she faced Curry in 2018. Although she didn't win that contest, she made up for it by becoming only the fourth rookie to compete and winning this year’s event, with Marina Mabrey being eliminated with just 18 points.
Azzi Fudd: A High School Prodigy
According to reporting by CBS Sports - Headlines, at 15 years old in 2018, Fudd was one of the first female campers ever invited to Stephen Curry's SC30 Select Camp. After winning their mini-contest, she faced Curry himself. He won that time with a score of 20–16, but now Fudd is ready for the next round.
Historic Moment at the All-Star Game
Sabrina Ionescu won the title last year with 37 points, setting an NBA and WNBA record. This year, Rhyne Howard and Janelle Salaun were eliminated before Fudd. Bridget Carleton competed but only managed to score 19 points. Despite nervousness, Fudd stayed focused, making every shot in the first rack.
