70-Year-Old Chief and Four Traditional Rulers Arrested for Cattle Breeders Association Leader Murder
The Benue State Police Command has apprehended seven suspects, including an 80-year-old man and four traditional rulers, in connection with the murder of Ardo Risku Mohammed, the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).
According to police statements issued by Daily Post Nigeria, the arrest was made during intelligence-led operations by Command operatives in pursuit of those linked to Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed’s killing. The suspects include Sylvester Ajonye (80), Chief Morgan Ejaga (43), Chief Moses Anteyi (45), Chief John Ogli (58), Chief Yawuhu Adaji (49), Aba Alexander Uloko (59), and Fidelis Iduma (45).
These arrests come following weeks of detailed investigations, intelligence gathering, and tactical efforts by the police force. The murder occurred on June 26, 2026, in Ohinmini Local Government Area just after Ardo Risku Mohammed attended a peace meeting. He was reportedly ambushed near Okpokwu in Otukpo Local Government Area.

The Benue Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, acknowledged the commitment and professionalism displayed by the investigating and tactical teams. He assured that despite these arrests, the investigation remains active, urging residents to provide any useful information.
