Coritiba defender Jacy Maranhao falls into tunnel during goal celebration

Brazilian football has a quirky history, with one of its latest entries becoming somewhat infamous. Defender Jacy Maranhao jumped over advertising boards after scoring for Coritiba against Chapecoense but ended up tumbling down a tunnel leading to the away team’s dressing room.

Maranhao scored in the 41st minute when his side was leading 1-0, celebrating by running towards fans and vaulting over obstructions. What should have been a triumphant moment took a disappointing turn as he went missing down a passage leading to the opposite end of the stadium.
