Erling Haaland Snubbed for Premier League Legends List
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been overlooked in a top 10 list of the best-ever Premier League strikers by former Watford forward Troy Deeney. Despite setting records and winning three consecutive Golden Boots, Deeney thinks there's 'still a long way to go' for the Norwegian.
Haaland emerged as a sensation since his transfer in 2022, breaking Alan Shearer’s record for goals in a single Premier League season with 36. Followed by impressive campaigns of 27 and 22 goals each, Haaland stands at 112 total goals in just four seasons. Yet, despite these feats, Deeney chose to leave him off his list.
Deeney's Top 8
In his report for talkSPORT, Deeney cited Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney as his top picks, followed by Alan Shearer in fourth spot. Fifth place was given to prolific striker Andy Cole with no particular order from his fifth to ninth picks.
- 5th: Andy Cole
- 6-9th: Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, Luis Suarez, Robbie Fowler and Jermain Defoe
