Gianni Infantino's Fifa Forward Enterprise scrapped as clubs demand action on joint venture rights
The European Football Clubs (EFC) have threatened to boycott future Club World Cups in a bid to see off FIFA's privately backed Football Forward Enterprise (FFE).
In response to widespread criticism, FIFA secretary general Gianni Infantino shelved the FFE plan shortly after it was announced. However, the EFC issued an ultimatum demanding that FIFA Chief Executive Infantino back down or face refusal from its clubs in future tournaments.
The letter to Mattias Grafström, signed by Charlie Marshall of the EFC, warned that its cooperation with such tournaments would only proceed if INFANTINO agreed to step back from his initial proposals. They stated this threat remained on the table as there was “no meaningful progress” over the past year.
