4-Year Break Ends: Eve Muirhead Announces Return

Former Olympic champion Eve Muirhead is back after a four-year hiatus. The 36-year-old announced her return as she and two-time Olympic silver medallist Bobby Lammie prepare to compete in the mixed doubles event.

Muirhead won world titles and multiple medals during her elite career but missed Beijing 2022 due to not securing a spot for team GB. Now, with a chance to compete from home, she's 'as competitive as ever.'

“You realise that you do miss that. When this opportunity was given to me, at the start I was like, ‘yeah, yeah, very good’. And then I went and seriously thought about it, and I thought, I'm as competitive as ever, that fire's been re-built within me, and I feel like I've got one more Olympic cycle in me. ”

Muirhead hopes her comeback will inspire others to return after a break.

Curling Academy Initiatives

During her time away from competitive curling, Muirhead wrote a memoir and started the Curling Academy. Competing again offers her an opportunity to show athletes that a sabbatical is not just okay but can be transformative.
