Christopher Green Questions Feasibility of Proposed Player Salary Structure in NPFL Upgrades

Nigeria's former NFF chairman, Christopher Green, has expressed major doubts over the proposed minimum salary structure for players in the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) ambitious league reforms. Despite welcoming the overall reforms as positive steps, he raised concerns about their practical implementation.

Green, who served as both Rivers State Sports Commissioner and NFF Technical Committee Chair, argued that many state-funded NPFL clubs will struggle to sustain higher player salaries without broader commercial reforms. He stated, ‘The financial realities facing many Nigerian clubs could make the proposed salary policy difficult to enforce.’
