Super Falcons Star Accuses Casablanca Hotel Cleaning Staff of Stolen Cash during Africa Cup of Nations Preparation

Nigeria's Esther Okoronkwo has accused cleaning staff at the Morocco hotel where the Super Falcons team camped of stealing cash from players’ rooms, casting a shadow on their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Okoronkwo detailed her allegations in a series of Snapchat posts over the weekend. She claims that while she and other teammates were out of their rooms, the cleaning staff took money from their belongings. According to Okoronkwo, $700 was taken from one player's room, with additional sums stolen from several others.

Okoronkwo initially said $500 had been taken before issuing a correction: 'Guys I did my calculations wrong; they actually stole 700, not 500 USD,' she wrote alongside photos of her teammates at the hotel.

She cited teammate Hali (Halimatu Ayinde) having $100 stolen, another player Osi (Asisat Oshoala), also losing $100, and a further player identified as Joy (Joy Omewa) had £120 taken. Okoronkwo said the squad confronted hotel staff over the missing cash but got no clear answers.
