No Plans for Electricity Tariff Hike—FG Assures Nigerians of Continued Support
The Federal Government has officially dismissed reports suggesting an impending increase in electricity tariffs, with statements from the Special Adviser on Power Infrastructure affirming that no such hikes are planned for any grid consumer.
Speaking at the Asharami Square 3.0 event in Lagos on July 22, 2026, Sadiq Wanka clarified his previous remarks, which were widely misinterpreted by media reports. He stated, “There is no planned tariff hike for any grid consumer across any service band.”
The government remains committed to protecting the most vulnerable households through continued tariff support as outlined in the National Integrated Electricity Policy.
