Ex-Patriots Lineman Jordan Devey Dies by Suicide
New England Patriots offensive lineman Jordan Devey, who played in Super Bowl 49 with the team in 2015, has passed away at the age of 38. He was found to have taken his own life according to a GoFundMe page set up for his wife Linsey and their four children.
Devey’s NFL journey began with an undrafted status but he joined the Patriots’ practice squad in September 2013, eventually playing six games as left guard during the team's Super Bowl victory. His professional career also included stops at San Francisco, Kansas City, Oakland/Las Vegas, and Buffalo.
From Band to Football
The journey to the NFL was far from straightforward for Devey. He suffered from Osgood-Schlatter disease in junior high which hindered his football prospects in high school, forcing him to skip the sport altogether. Instead, he played tuba in his school band before serving a missionary stint with the Church of Latter Day Saints in Costa Rica after graduating from American Fork High School.
Post-NFL Contributions
