Investigation Unveils Plans for Criminal Firearms Purchase

Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State – Police operatives intercepted a plan to procure an AK-47 rifle on Aug 3rd, 2026. Sanda Aliyu, alleged to be involved in kidnapping activities, was arrested before the weapon could be delivered.

According to reporting by Daily Post Nigeria, intelligence led detectives to suspect a transaction with Sanda Aliyu and another individual, Aliyu Mohammed, who remains at large. Interrogation revealed that N1.6 million had already been paid for the rifle, and its acquisition was intended as a stepping stone in Aliyu’s path toward leading his own gang.

Sanda Aliyu admitted to acquiring the firearm to rise through ranks of their criminal network before branching out himself.

Operatives’ Strategic Actions

The arrest was part of a larger investigation into the attempts at illicit arms procurement, which helped identify other connections and expand on the gang’s operations. The State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, assured continuous efforts against criminal activities in the state.
