Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inspected the rehabilitation works at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, ensuring that the city is ready to host the National Intermediate Games this coming September. The natural grass pitch has been completed, and work on the new tartan track will be finished soon.
Other sporting facilities, including indoor sports halls and swimming pools, are also undergoing upgrades in preparation for the competition, which aims to provide young Nigerian athletes with a platform to develop their talents.
The National Intermediate Games, introduced by the National Sports Commission, is part of efforts to bridge the gap between grassroots competitions and elite sport. With thousands of athletes expected to converge on Lagos, the city has been working on several projects across Surulere, Ikorodu, Epe, Agege, and Badagry to ensure quality facilities for young people.
