Liam's Story

Though with fewer than 50 race starts, Liam Lawson feels like he has been on the Formula 1 grid for years. His career is fragmented across four racing seasons, beginning as a replacement for Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri in 2023.

In his rookie stint, Lawson impressed by knocking out Max Verstappen from qualifying and scoring his first race points.

From Go-Kart Racing to F1

Lawson's journey began with go-kart racing as a child. His parents sold their house so he could continue racing, while his sisters gave up their dreams to support him in motorsport. When Lawson turned 16, he moved to Europe for more experience and finished second in German F4 in 2018.

Pathway Through the Poles

In 2019, Red Bull brought Lawson into their junior program. He participated in some Super Formula campaigns before a critical crash at Motegi in August 2023 left him doubting his F1 prospects.
