After four years, the team finally conquers the medal podium with a silver medal in Glasgow.
In a dramatic shift from the chaotic car park setting of Birmingham, Robyn Love and her Scottish-based wheelchair basketball teammates Kayli English, Jodie Waite, and Lea Smith claim an historic second-place finish at the Commonwealth Games. This comes after winning their semi-final match against Australia earlier in the day.
Love, a veteran coach and team member who experienced heartbreak four years ago, expressed her joy: 'To get a Commonwealth silver with this group, and to see them grow... what a privilege. It's a dream come true.'
'I'm not crying now, but I pretty much was this morning after the semi-final,' added Love. The team overcame emotional barriers and proved their worth on an international stage. With Scotland officially at least taking home silver, there is no disappointment in the lack of a first ever medal for Scotland's women's wheelchair 3x3 basketball.
Men's Team Claims Bronze with Passionate Performance
The men’s team, led by Kyle Jimenez and Ross Malcolm, sealed their bronze-medal success against New Zealand, securing a momentous triumph in Glasgow. The duo, alongside US-raised players Skylar White and Owen McCormack, delivered a nail-biting 18-16 victory over their traditional rivals.
