Missing the men's World Cup? Don’t worry, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) is set to start on July 26 in Morocco. The tournament will feature 16 teams from across the continent, aiming for their biggest ever edition. With the women of Nigeria looking to extend their title to an impressive 11, and teams like Egypt and Cape Verde vying for a maiden victory, the competition promises to be exciting.

Credit the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for adjusting the dates from March-April to late July-August. This change should allow players better preparation and avoid mid-summer heat challenges. Despite some frustration among teams due to late changes, it now represents a fresh start for many. The event stretches 34 matches over two weeks, with all kickoffs at or after 6pm local time.
