Two Men Arrested for Impersonating Soldiers Years After Military School
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended two men, Abraham Ashiwel and Michael Okonkwo, who were alleged to have impersonated military personnel for years after leaving Nigeria's Military School in Zaria. The suspects were arrested on August 8th over the theft of a mobile phone from a laundry attendant in Suleja.
According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the suspects stormed a laundry shop in Angwan-Gwari area where they assaulted the shop attendant over an alleged missing phone before being taken into custody by 'B' Division operatives. During interrogation, it emerged that both men had attended the military school but were expelled in 2016 and 2019 respectively.
Items recovered from the suspects included a military camouflage trouser, two combat T-shirts, two pairs of desert boots, two identity cards and two jackknives.Following their arrest, the police confirmed that investigation revealed both men to be former students of the Nigerian Military School who had been expelled years ago. They currently remain in custody awaiting further actions from State Criminal Investigation Department.
