Nigeria’s Young Track Stars Set to Compete at World U20 Championship
The Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is optimistic as its track and field contingent heads to the World Athletics U20 Championship in Oregon, US. Drawing from experience gained at the 2023 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, where athletes like Jessica Oji secured silver in shot put, the AFN believes this next stage could be a catalyst for Nigerian athletics.
“Looking back to our performance at Glasgow, we see it as an excellent run-up for these young talents,” said an AFN spokesperson. Athletes such as Miracle Ezechukwu, who qualified for the women’s 4x100m final and advanced to the semi-finals of the 100-metre dash, are set to compete in multiple events.
