Nigeria’s Engineers Gather for Annual Games Focusing on Health and Collaboration

The event in Abuja aims to promote teamwork among engineers from across the country.

A new chapter of the National Engineering Games commenced on Saturday in Abuja. With an emphasis on camaraderie, the event serves as a platform for engineers to step back from their rigorous schedules and focus on health, unity, and professional development.

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) President, Eng. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, highlighted the purpose behind these games during his address at the opening ceremony. He stressed that the Games are designed not only for fun but also to foster important values like discipline and teamwork within the engineering community.

NSE Launches Annual Events to Enhance Engineers' Well-being

Eng. Rabiu pointed out that these games were initiated in 2011 with a goal of providing engineers, who work tirelessly in various sectors, an opportunity to engage in physical activities and socialize. ‘Engineering is a demanding profession, and these games are important for engineers to unwind and recharge,’ said Rabiu.

Collaboration with International Partners Key to Future Games

Rabiu called for stronger partnerships with the diplomatic community and development partners to increase the reach of the National Engineering Games internationally. Such alliances would help in building friendships that promote peace and mutual understanding on a global level.
