Oscar Piastri loses tempers as McLaren battles Formula One setbacks

The Australian F1 star swore at his McLaren team during the Hungarian Grand Prix, after losing a possible race lead due to strategy blunders and backmarker issues. Piastri's frustration boiled over, with strong language that had to be censored multiple times in broadcasts.

While some of his struggles are out of his control, Piastri now must prove he can adapt to McLaren’s new era after another disappointing race result. The Australian, who showed promise halfway through 2025 and carried the reputation as F1's best young driver, finds himself struggling against teen sensations like Antonelli and even Isack Hadjar.

Formula One Strategy Failures

McLaren’s strategy in Hungary seemed to favor Lando Norris rather than Piastri, putting the Australian behind in third place. Nevertheless, after a promising start where he overtook Norris on the first lap, Piastri faced gearbox failure and lost his position.

Pit stop issues left him marooned on the track.
