Fifa President Gianni Infantino Criticized by Premier League Chief
The head of England's top football league, Richard Masters, has firmly criticized FIFA President Gianni Infantino over his recent World Cup sell-off plan. Masters described it as a 'self-inflicted wound' that could damage the institution.
Masters told BBC Sport that FIFA's attempt to create a new company with 21% commercial and ticketing rights, called Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE), was abandoned due to widespread criticism from several football confederations. The move specifically targets Uefa, which has threatened a boycott of all FIFA competitions.
FIFA's FFE plan faced intense backlash, with Masters emphasizing that the Premier League and English Football Association have withdrawn their support for Infantino.
