Russia's aide warns of nuclear weapon use if state’s existence is endangered
According to reporting by Daily Post Nigeria, Kremlin adviser Dmitry Peskov has stated that Russia might deploy its vast nuclear arsenal if the very existence of the Russian state is threatened. This alarming statement comes after NATO leaders reaffirmed their commitment to counter the long-term threat posed by Russia to Euro-Atlantic security and stability at a meeting in Ankara.
During an interview with Swiss newspaper Die Weltwoche, Peskov highlighted that 'if something endangers the idea of the existence of the Russian state, then nuclear weapons will be used. Otherwise no.' He dismissed European capitals' comments about Russia's potential to start a regional war as speculative rhetoric.
Peskov also addressed President Volodymyr Zelensky’s promise to end the conflict in Ukraine. The adviser insisted that 'the war can only be ended by withdrawing troops from Donbas, regions now part of Russia, and recognizing the de jure situation,' a stark statement with potential geopolitical consequences.
