Mbahchu Urges Super Falcons to Focus After Poor Preparation

Former Nigeria international Stella Mbachu has admitted that the women's football squad’s preparation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) was not ideal, with limited high-profile friendly matches. Despite this, she insists the quality within the Super Falcons remains unquestionable and the team still has a chance to win the trophy.

Mbachu attributes the squad's performance issues to insufficient preparation: “Our preparations were not ideal, but better friendlies would have helped,” she said. Mbachu urged both the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the players to learn valuable lessons from the experience and stay united as they face upcoming matches.

The Super Falcons aim for a record-extending 11th WAFCON title, with continued support from Nigerian fans essential.

Mbahchu is confident that if unity, improved performances, and continued fan support are maintained, the team can regain their competitive edge.
