European Football’s Governing Body Threatens World Cup Boycott Amid Rival Presidencies

UEFA has doubled down on its stance to boycott FIFA-run competitions, maintaining that the organisation’s backing of President Gianni Infantino “changes nothing.” This comes despite recent efforts by FIFA to support Infantino as governance issues persist. The global players’ union, Fifpro, and South American confederation, Conmebol, have also condemned what they see as an abuse of power.

UEFA’s 55 member associations agreed last week that they would boycott FIFA’s tournaments until Infantino withdraws his controversial privately funded programme, FFE. While the plan was scrapped on Friday, Uefa remains unconvinced by any changes and says it has lost confidence in Infantino's leadership.
