Valkyries’ Nine-Win Streak Puts Them on Top in WNBA Power Rankings

Despite trailing the Washington Mystics by six points late in a recent game, the Golden State Valkyries turned things around to secure their ninth consecutive victory. This win streak, which ties their franchise-record, has earned them top honors in CBS Sports’ latest WNBA Power Rankings.

The Valkyries' defensive prowess is the key to their success this season. Their outstanding team defense includes a 100.3 defensive rating, leading the league in numerous categories such as points allowed and opponent effective field goal percentage. These improvements stem from Gabby Williams joining the roster as a free agent signing.

Ninth straight win keeps Valkyries at No. 1 in WNBA

During their current winning streak, the Valkyries have only given up more than 75 points once and have shown impressive physicality on defense with notable games like holding Washington to just 49 points. Their ability to limit opponents has them notching 34.6% from beyond the arc, an improvement over last season’s 32.5%. However, their offensive struggles continue, limiting them to eighth in offensive rating.
