“Owen was on the phone to the manager and his agent while I was in labour,” said Jessica. “They waited for me to give birth and then he went out on loan pretty much as soon as I was out of hospital.” Since moving with Owen, Jessica has seen their home town changed multiple times, reflecting the unpredictable nature of professional football.

Living in uncertainty is a stark reality for Owen’s wife. From the moment she was pregnant with their son Xavier, every new club meant another move. Their first house in Congleton was unused due to long trips: “We spent one night there - we hadn't even unpacked.” Jessica decided against the 10-hour round trip weekly to visit Owen during away games as it wouldn’t benefit his playing form.

After Portsmouth, their first house became temporary. “Jessica would often stay with a friend of Owen’s partner when he was on away games, making the isolation bearable,” she explains, adding that she also quit her law degree to manage social media for his career.
