Multi-Talented Arthur Fery: Wimbledon's Homegrown Hope
As Arthur Fery has raced around the baseline at Wimbledon this week, coming up with points that have defined his remarkable run to the quarter-finals, he’s faced a diverse set of influences. Born in Sevres, France, but growing up just five minutes down the road from the All England Club, Fery's journey to success is a unique blend of French, American and Dutch experiences.
Roots in Paris
Fery’s mother, Olivia (née Gravereaux), was a former professional tennis player who played in the 1991 French Open. His father, Loic Fery, is one of France's wealthiest men. After moving to Wimbledon when he was young, Fery received support from England's Lawn Tennis Association and based his training at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.
College Experience in the U.S.
Briefly representing France in tennis at under-12 level before choosing Great Britain as his allegiance, Fery enrolled at Stanford University in 2020. Stanford’s strong tennis set-up helped him become the top-ranked college player in the country over three years. Coach Jeroen Benard saw potential and joined forces with Fery.
